The primary goal of installing a camera at the entrance of the store is to count the number of people entering the store throughout the day. Once the camera is installed, Ignite Prism uses specialized software to draw a virtual line (called a "tripwire") in the camera's Field Of View. As people walk over this line, they will be counted.
There are a few important things to keep in mind when installing the camera:
-
Ideally, the camera view should enable the software to view and track people for 1-2 seconds before and after they cross over the tripwire.
-
Ensure there are no items blocking the path from the camera to the person entering.
-
Harsh sunlight and glare could be problematic.
-
Maximize the camera’s view by specifically following the guidelines below. Note:
-
Overhead camera views are NOT required.
-
Capturing as much of the area outside of the door is NOT required.
-
-
Mount the camera in the center of the doorway. If there is a double-door entry, the center of the camera’s Field of View should match the center of the two doors.
-
A camera looking straight down is considered 0 degrees. A camera looking directly horizontal is considered 90 degrees. Counting cameras will have the center point of their field of view at a 15-degree angle.
-
Please email support@igniteprism.com for exceptions or stores that are otherwise not “standard,” and we will provide additional direction right away.
Use the guidelines below to determine how far from the door to mount the camera, given the specific ceiling height.
